Swim Meet 101

  • What are time trials? Clerk of what? Ever wonder about some of the terms you hear at the pool? Make sure to check out the Parent Guide for the scoop on all these things!
  • A meets are on Saturday mornings and B meets are on Wednesday nights.
  • Parents must let coaches know if their kids will be available to swim by the deadlines. If you can no longer attend a meet after you say you can, please let the coaches know ASAP so they can find a replacement swimmer! Here are instructions for how to declare your swimmers!
  • The lineups for the A meets will be based on swimmer times and availability. Due to limitations on the number of kids that can participate in an A meet, just because your swimmer is available to swim does not mean they will get to swim. Check out the A Meets tab for more info!
  • B meets are open meets. If your swimmer wants to swim, your swimmer will be swimming in up to 4 events. In general, A meet swimmers will not swim the maximum number of events allowed at B meets and may not swim in events they swam in the previous A meet. Check out the B Meets tab for more info!
  • While the children are swimming, the parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles help run the team. Swim team is a family experience! For more information about how you can help check out the Volunteer Support Guide!
  • You'll want to make sure you arrive early for Swim Meets for warm ups. Make sure to check your email the day before for meet instructions.
  • Check in with the Team Reps and the coaches when you arrive for instructions. The Team Reps will give volunteers instructions for the jobs they selected!
  • Finally, you may be wondering what you might need to bring with you for the swim meet. The checklist below includes the necessities!
