B Meets

B Meets are held Wednesday evenings. The events (minus relays) are the same as in the A meets and ribbons are given for 1st through 6th place. There are, however, two big differences between A meets and B meets:

  1. B meets are open meets. If your swimmer wants to swim, your swimmer will be swimming. If we have forty 8 and under freestylers … we will swim forty 8 and under freestylers.
  2. B meets don’t count toward divisional standings. That doesn’t make them any less important!

In the interest of fairness, swimmers who place at A meets will generally not be allowed to swim the event in which they placed at the next B meet. That swimmer may be allowed to swim up (in the next oldest age group) for that event. In general, A meet swimmers will not swim the maximum number of events (four) allowed at B meets.

Given the lateness of B meets, we will not go out as a team after the event. Instead, we strongly encourage our swimmers to attend, grab dinner or dessert from the home team’s concessions, and cheer on their teammates.

At B meets, the host team usually allows for a kickboard race for Pup Team members from both the home and away teams.

Events will occur as follows:
